Overview

The Dallas-Fort Worth Urban League (DFWUL)'s CareerLift Academy is a structured, community-facing workforce development program with an important financial literacy component serving underserved residents across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. This workforce development program provides occupational training, career coaching, and employment retention tools for the DFW-area employee. From new workforce entrants, to current professionals, to the formerly incarcerated, to older Americans re-entering the workforce or in need of new skills, Urban League workforce programs have helped thousands to find careers and prepare for new challenges. CareerLift Academy addresses the DFWUL commitment to economic empowerment, community investment, and workforce readiness — values central to our organization's mission and pillars.

Who It Is For

New workforce entrants, current professionals, formerly incarcerated individuals, or older Americans re-entering the workforce or in need of new skills in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

What Participants Can Expect

Module 1: Self-Mastery and Growth – Mindset, workplace behavior, and personal accountability
Module 2: Career Exploration – Career pathway identification and industry awareness
Module 3: Professional Communication – Verbal, written, and interpersonal effectiveness
Module 4: Time & Priority Management – Productivity, punctuality, and goal tracking
Module 5: Conflict Resolution & Accountability – Emotional intelligence and problem-solving
Module 6: Financial Empowerment – Budgeting, benefits, and financial stability strategies
Module 7: Technology & AI Readiness – Digital literacy and workplace technology skills
Module 8: Career Preparation (CareerLift Lab) – Resume building, portfolios, and interview readiness
